On November 24th of last year, it was announced that Sigma Performance Services (SPS Racing) was set to acquire AM Racing's NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series program for the 2026 season. The team already has an ARCA Menard's Series operation and some late model cars.

However, it was revealed on Friday this deal for a NOAPS team is no longer happening.

"In November of 2025, an acquisition of AM Racing was announced," a statement from AM Racing read. "While the transaction ultimately was not finalized, AM Racing will move forward independently and remain committed to competition in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.

"The organization will build upon its existing foundation for the upcoming season, with driver and team announcements forthcoming."

Just two weeks ago, AM Racing posted a photo of its newly wrapped pit box with SPS Racing's colors and logos.

SPS Racing expanded on that in their own statement, posted to the team website:

"Recent Announcement(s) were made regarding the termination of the SPS planned NASCAR O'Reilly's Auto Parts Series program participation. While SPS's participation in this program was halted effective January 28th, 2026, SPS will continue to support the smooth and effective transition of this competition program in full cooperation with AM Racing."

Added team owner Joe Farré: "We are proud of the work that we did in assembling an incredible team of people, resources and technical partners, and we are confident in the integrity of that plan and the people involved. We are working closely with the AM racing leadership group to support the smooth transition of these operations, and we are confident in their ability to deliver the quality and integrity of the plan and to deliver the results that this team of partners deserves."

Last year, AM Racing ended the year 13th in the owner's championship, and even made the driver's playoffs with Harrison Burton. While Burton has since moved on to another team, it's unclear who will pilot its Ford Mustang in 2026.

As part of the 2026 owner points transfers, the No. 25 AM Racing Ford shifted its owner points to the No. 76 in preparation for the team becoming SPS Racing.
