Coleman and the USPS Ready to Deliver
Duo pairs up to make the rounds at Talladega
(Nashville, Tenn.) April 22, 2008 - Now back stateside and coming off a top-20 performance south of the border in Mexico, Brad Coleman and the No. 27 USPS Ford Fusion look to deliver another solid performance this weekend in the Aaron's 312 at the Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama.
Coleman's past success at the track has both the USPS and the Baker Curb driver enthusiastic about the weekend. In 2007 in his first outing at Talladega, he not only finished in the top-10, but won the pole as well.
"Racing at Talladega is intense," said Coleman. "I don't think there is any other word to describe the feeling you get when you pull into turn one and get under green. Going three wide- it is like WOW- what a rush! I am looking forward to getting this No. 27 USPS Ford Fusion on the track and ‘delivering' something exciting this weekend."
A sponsor of Baker Curb Racing for the past five years, the United States Postal Service has also seen success on the track with the average finish being inside the top five when the USPS has been the primary sponsor of the car. Coleman will be the sixth driver to pilot the USPS car since its introduction to NASCAR in 2002.
Crew chief Shawn Parker is eager to put Coleman back on an oval track. "We had excellent pit stops in Mexico City. I think our intensive practice sessions the week before really paid off to keep the No. 27 car running smoothly," Parker noted, "it will be good to transfer this back to a traditional speedway and see if this is the week we can really put Brad into contention."
Taking off from the motto on the Farley Post Office in New York City which pledges that "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night will slow the courier from the swift completion of his stated round", the No. 27 USPS Ford Fusion will be ready to make a special delivery.
