Musgrave, No. 9 Team ASE Toyota Finish 4th in Atlanta

Atlanta, GA (March 21, 2006) Ted Musgrave hustled the No. 9 Team ASE Toyota to a fourth-place finish in the John Deere 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday night. Musgrave qualified 18th for the event, but due to NASCAR's unique qualifying procedure, he was forced to start last in the 36 truck field -- utilizing a Past Champions provisional afforded the reigning 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion.

Musgrave quickly knifed through the field, breaking into the top-10 within 50 laps and positioning himself for his third consecutive top-5 finish with a late race charge towards the front.

"That was another great race for the Team ASE Toyota and the entire Germain Racing team," Musgrave said. "We had the field surrounded at the start with Todd on the pole and me having to come from shotgun on the field. It was a shame we had to start last, but that's the way it is with the unique qualifying rules we have to deal with the first four races of the season. I knew if we could stay out of trouble early on, it wouldn't take us long to make it towards the front.

The cautions early in the race fell at the right time to come in and get tires, and the crew did a fantastic job getting us off pit road. Once we got up near the front, it was a little harder to pick up positions, but the Team ASE Toyota was very strong. I am so proud of everyone at Germain Racing. To come out of Atlanta with two top five finishes, and for both of us to have top fives in every race we've run this season, that's amazing."

Musgrave's Germain Racing teammate Todd Bodine won the race, his first win of the season after two consecutive runner-up finishes. Musgrave had finished in third position in the season's opening two events.

"We were one spot away from keeping our streak going," Musgrave said. "But Todd picked up a spot, so I suppose that's the way it works. I had to lose one spot. We know even early one that every point we can get is critical, and we would have liked to have been up where Todd was, but I think we got everything we could get today. Things got a little crazy the last few laps. Todd made a great save there with Mark when he took the lead. That could have easily ended up badly for both of those guys. I'm glad it worked out the way it did and our teammate went to victory lane. Now the next item of business is to get the Team ASE Toyota in the winner's circle as quickly as we can."

Musgrave heads into the fourth round of the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway, in third position in the championship point standings. He is 65 points behind current leader Mark Martin - who is not running the full series schedule in 2006 - and 40 points behind teammate Bodine. The Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway is scheduled for 3 P.M. on Saturday April 1, 2006.
