Dotter has difficult day at Michigan.

Brooklyn, MI: Bobby Dotter fought an uncooperative race truck all day long and struggled to a 28th place finish in the People Against Drugs/Puma Tools Chevrolet at the Michigan 200 on Saturday, July 27th. While the team would have liked to have had a better finish, they made the most of a bad situation and used much of the race as a test session for superspeedway events at Texas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and California Speedway later in the season.

"I really don't know why we were so off this weekend," Dotter said. "We made a ton of changes the morning of the race to get things a little better, but it just never worked out. So, instead of just writing off the entire weekend, we put our heads together to come up with some ideas that would help us out later in the season.

"We worked and worked, and I think we made some gains on it at the end of the day. It wasn't anything that was going to get us a better finish at Michigan, but I am pretty sure it will help us when we get back on the speedways later in the season."

Dotter is looking forward to returning to the site of his first career NCTS top-10 finish, Indianapolis Raceway Park, for this Friday's Power Stroke Diesel 200. In last year's event, Dotter charged from 27th to score a tenth-place finish.

"I always like getting back to the short tracks," Dotter said. "I always liked IRP, going back to my Busch Series days. We always run good there, while the finishes don't necessarily show it. I think we should have a good truck to race with up there and put on a good show for the fans. The fans at IRP are some of the best we run in front of all year."

In seven career Busch Series starts at IRP, Dotter has an average finish of 16th, with his best being a 7th in 1995. He has three top-10 finishes in the Busch Series and one top-10 finish in one start in the Craftsman Truck Series.

Dotter will get the green flag in the People Against Drugs/Puma Tools Chevrolet at Indianapolis Raceway Park shortly after 9:00 pm ET on Friday August 2. The race will be broadcast live on ESPN and can be heard live on XM Satellite Radio and MRN Radio affiliates nationwide.
