A day after the 17-year-old son of Team Penske president Tim Cindric landed a two-race deal in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, Brad Keselowski Racing announced Thursday Austin would drive a Truck race for the organization this season.

Austin is slated to run a third BKR entry at the Truck race at Dover, Del., on May 13. BKR will also field a third entry in the May 20 Truck race at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Austin Theriault.

Austin made his Truck series debut last season with BKR at Martinsville, Va., where he finished 25th and ran a second race at Phoenix, where he finished 14th.

“They tell me that the two truck races that I was able to do last year at Martinsville and Phoenix were difficult tracks to figure out, and I believe Dover will be the same,” Cindric said. “As I haven't been able to test, I’ve been watching as much video as possible while reaching out to as many people as I can to pick their brain about what it takes to be fast at Dover.

“I’m just going in with no expectations, trying to absorb as much information as possible and have fun with it.”

Theriault, 22, has 10 previous Truck starts with BKR, but will make his first appearance at Charlotte. He ran the season-opening race at Daytona in 2016, where he qualified fourth and led five times for a race-high 31 laps before a late-race accident left him with a 27th-place finish.

“I'm going (to Charlotte) with the expectation to win. I know we will have a strong Ford F-150 race truck at Charlotte and we plan to perform well, just like we did earlier this year at Daytona,” theriault said. “At the end of the day, we want to win, and we have all the resources here at BKR to do just that at Charlotte.”
