- TEAM RC IN THE TOP THREE Stacy Compton has remained in the top-three of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings through the first 18 races of the '99 campaign. His second place finish at Martinsville Speedway on April 17 earned the Hurt, VA., native first place in the points battle. Team RC is currently third in the NCTS standings, only 83 points out of the lead with seven races remaining. "We need to win this weekend," said Compton. "We are racing for the 1999 championship and a win Gateway would give us the momentum we need to finish strong."
- HORSES, HORSES AND HORSES There is one thing that competitors will need to win this weekend's race, horsepower. Team RC is bringing plenty of horsepower for Friday's race. Since Compton switched to Dodge for the '99 season, Joey Arrington has built the motors for the No. 86 RC truck and the program has been impressive. Team RC has won four Bud Pole Awards and is consistently in the top-10. "We've been competitive every race this season with Joey's motors," crew chief Kevin Cram said. "We'll have plenty of horsepower at St. Louis."
- LOOK AT THE NUMBERS Team RC has finished in the top-15 in 15 out of 18 races this season. Compton collected six consecutive top-four's in the first six races, taking over the points lead in April. His second place finish at IRP last week was his third. He has finished third three times and fourth three times as well. He is close to breaking the million dollar mark for career earnings in the NCTS.
