Butler's hope for Top 10 vanishes with incident

Brett Butler's luck has been just one sided in 2010, down right bad! After nearly a month off from racing, Butler was ready to change his luck after his last race left him struggling after a lap one incident in Nashville.

Brett grabbed the wheel of his #47 Fuel Doctor USA Chevy in the O'Reilly 300 at Kansas Speedway after qualifying 33rd for the event, but remained positive, understanding that the truck would be a better racer than a qualifier.

The Georgia native was correct and in just ten laps, Butler had the Fuel Doctor truck up to the 16th position and closing in fast.

After a quick pit stop, the crew made a minor adjustment and Butler set sail on the leaders, turning comparable laps to the top three trucks.

With dark clouds hanging over the front stretch, Butler made his charge up to the 12th position on lap 91 knowing that rain was coming.

"We are set up for a great finish," stated Gary Cogswell, Butler's Crew Chief. "We are prepared to have a red flag and understood that with a couple set of sticker tires and a full tank, we have a truck and driver capable of at least a top 10!" Cogswell announced to the crew.

On lap 95, Butler dropped to the inside of the lap truck driven by Jennifer Jo Cobb, but Cobb didn't know the 47 was there.J

"It's bad," Butler stated to the crew. The Fuel Doctor Chevy took hard damage to the right side of the truck, knocking the lower control arm into the frame.

"This is heartbreaking," Brett claimed as the rain began to fall. "This truck was awesome and we had another great run result in a bad finish that wasn't our doing. The moment we change our luck, we will be tough competition for everyone!"

The Rick Ware Racing team will now have their hands full, rebuilding the truck for Dover.

"I can't thank the guys enough for the piece they gave me this weekend. The Fuel Doctor "Green Machine" was the best intermediate truck I have driven, and I have no doubt that our luck will change sooner than later," proclaimed Butler.
