Compton Has Experience at Kentucky Despite No Truck Starts
The Virginia native will be making his sixth NASCAR start at Kentucky Speedway this weekend. He has five Nationwide starts to his credit. He has scored one pole (2003), one top-five and two top-10 finishes in those five Nationwide starts. This will be his first start in a truck at Kentucky.
During the recent break in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule Bobby Hamilton Racing added veteran crew chief Jeff Hensley to the team's roster. Hensley will take over duties as the team's Competition Director immediately.
The No. 4 Dodge will be showcasing the Tim Short Dodge of Hazard, KY paint scheme Saturday night. The Tim Short Dodge of Hazard, KY Dodge dealership was the outstanding sales performer selling more Dodge vehicles than all the surrounding dealerships, thus winning the prize to sponsor Compton's No. 4 Dodge Ram this weekend.
Compton will pilot "Swinger" this weekend at Memphis. He had driven this particular chassis at Lowes Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Michigan International Speedway earlier this season.
A Look Back: The late Bobby Hamilton Sr. scored his third of four victories during the 2004 season at Kentucky Speedway in dominating fashion. Hamilton led, at times as far as eight seconds ahead, 133 of 153 total laps ran that evening.
Compton Has Experience at Kentucky Despite No Truck Starts: "Even though I will be making my first start in a truck at Kentucky Speedway this weekend I don't expect to hit any road blocks. I have had tons of laps in a Nationwide car and tested in 2000 when Dodge was developing their engine program several times. I can't tell you how many laps I turned during those motor tests, but I know it was a lot. BHR's mile and a half program has been getting better each week and I think what we have learned the last few weeks will show this weekend. Kentucky has always been a good track for me. I can't really pin point why, but every time I raced there in a Nationwide car we finished well. For a long time I held the track record in qualifying, but it was recently beat. To be honest I am as excited about going to Kentucky as I have been about a race track in a long time. I think it could be a good weekend for us."
