Rick Crawford sentenced in Florida court

Former NASCAR competitor and track operator will have to serve nearly 11 years in a federal prison after his conviction in August.

Rick Crawford, who competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series from 1997 until 2013 making 336 starts and scoring five wins, was sentenced to 130 months in jail and was also fined $5,000 during a hearing on Monday.

The hearing was held in the United States District Court Middle District of Florida location in Orlando, Fla.

Crawford was arrested on March 1 by the Seminole County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office and formally indicted on March 30.

Crawford was arrested after he engaged in email and text communications between Feb. 10 and Feb. 28 earlier this year with a person he thought was the father of a 12-year-old girl to possibly engage in sexual activity according to evidence presented at trial.

Crawford had already been in jail since he was formally convicted in August during his trial.
