Chad Chaffin addresses stiff competition in NCTS

One Track Mind: "I try not to get too rattled regardless of the situation I may be in. Once I get into the truck I have a one track mind on getting to the front. So much in racing is out of your control and I have to remind myself that a lot during the season. Let's face it you have to be professional in this sport. There is no pint in showing your temper when you can't do anything about it. I try to take what the Dickies Racing Team is dealt in racing luck and make the best of it. As hard as it may be to realize the race track is our office. In the corporate world and racing world you will have bad days and it is important to stay focused on your job during those days. It has been real frustrating this year at times because we have been caught up in several wrecks that were not our fault, but someone else's mess. Martinsville was a real frustrating race for me and the team. The wreck was out of my control and the best thing we could do was go behind the wall and make the repairs needed. We had a great opportunity to capitalize on some of our competitor's bad luck, but we were unable to do that. It is important to stay focused and know that each weekend is a new opportunity at finishing in victory lane."

Phoenix Preview: "Phoenix is a unique track. I enjoy traveling to the dessert as much as I like racing on the track. It has two very distinct different corners and a dogleg on the back straightaway that is almost a corner in itself. The configuration of the track makes it very difficult to drive. You have to be on top of you're "A" game at Phoenix. Phoenix reminds me of Gateway International Raceway. I am not sure if that is an accurate judgment, but I compare the two tracks a lot. I was in contention to win at Gateway and I am confident about our chances this weekend. We did not run well at Phoenix last year, but our flat-track program has stepped up this season and now I think we will be a threat in the end."

Notes:

* Chad is racing Angel this weekend at Phoenix.

* The Tennessee driver drove this truck to his first career NCTS win in Dover.

Stiff Competition: "The competition has really picked up from last year. I think the biggest difference is we are seeing more wrecks than we have in the past. I think it's because in the past we have not had as many fast trucks on the track as we do now. Every weekend you have to deal with not only the front runners, but the rest of the field. We have around 25 fast trucks out there every week battling for top positions. The competitive racing normally takes place up front, but I have been in some pretty tough battles running 15th this season. The Dickies Dodge is not running for the championship, but the battle for fifth place in the point's championship is so tight. We could easily finish the year in fifth or ninth depending on how the final three races go. I think the next few races are good tracks for the whole BHR organization and I look forward to seeing how it all plays out in Homestead."
