For second time in three races, Dotter takes advantage of last-lap tangle to score to top-10 finish.

Henrico County, VA: For the second consecutive short track event on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule, Bobby Dotter drove the People Against Drugs/Puma Tools Chevrolet through a last-lap accident to score a top-10 finish in the Virginia is for Lovers 200 at Richmond International Raceway.

When David Starr and Bobby Hamilton made contact entering turn one of the final lap, it keyed an accident that swept up many other top-10 runners. It was the opportunity Dotter had been looking for.

"I thought we were really going to have a good truck today," Dotter said. "And we did have a good truck, it just wasn't as good as I was expecting. We could run with some of those guys, but we couldn't pass them.

"When we came for the white flag, I saw the smoke down in turn one and went low because the crash had been at the top. When I got to the exit of turn two, they had all jammed up back there, and someone rolled down right in front of me. I got into him and damaged the front nose, but Gene (Christensen, team owner and spotter) keyed the mic and said 'go, go, go', so we brought it back around."

Dotter is in the midst of a points battle for the 13th position that is just as tight as the battle for the championship. The last lap accident again further solidified Dotter's position in that battle.

"We picked up a handful of positions," he said. "That should really help us in the points. It's been very close all season, and any time we can gain a few points on the other guys, we have to. Some of the guys we are racing had some bad luck, and that is a shame, but we need to be in a position to take advantage of that when it happens. I'm sorry they had some bad luck, but not sorry we capitalized on it."

While the NCTS teams load up and head to Texas Motor Speedway for this Friday's Silverado 350, (ESPN2, 11:30 pm ET; MRN/XM Radio, Live, 9:00 pm ET) Dotter is looking forward to the following event on the schedule, the John Boy and Billy 250 at South Boston Speedway.

"We aren't looking past Texas at all, because we had a really good test at Atlanta leading up to the race there," Dotter said. "But we are excited to get back to the short tracks any time we can. I wish we could run the bullrings every week. Doug (Howe, crew chief) and myself are both short trackers, and we both look forward to getting down to South Boston."
