Practice Makes Perfect- Lyndon and Team Amick continue to try and improve at tracks where they've struggled in the past. To that end, the team spent Wednesday, August 2, testing at the Michigan International Speedway in preparation for the NAPAONLINE.com 250 on August 19. Double-Duty- Amick spent an extra day at Indianapolis Raceway Park this week, as he climbed behind the wheel of the Ken Schrader-owned No. 52 Penda Bedliners Chevy Silverado NASCAR Craftsman Truck (NCTS) for the August 3 Powerstroke 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park. The event marked the second time Amick has raced in Schrader's truck this season. Amick qualified third in the season-opening NCTS race at Daytona in February. "I'm excited about racing in the truck series again," Amick said. "Anytime you're in Ken Schrader's equipment, you've got a realistic shot at a win. (Ken Schrader Racing Crew Chief) Wally Brown and the guys at Ken Schrader Racing do a tremendous job of preparing the machines, and I thank them for the opportunity to drive for them." Amick also plans to drive Schrader's ARCA entry at Charlotte, Talladega and Atlanta later this year. The combination of Schrader's equipment and Amick's driving resulted in a win at the ARCA race at Charlotte in May.

Full Dance Card- Lyndon Amick barely had time to catch his breath on Thursday, August 3, at Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP). After making his qualifying run in the No. 52 Ken Schrader Racing Penda Bedliners Chevrolet, Amick hurried to a tent set up in the infield of IRP to take part in a very special press conference.

The occasion was the unveiling of a new racing videogame that will hit store shelves this fall. The game, entitled "Jarrett and Labonte Stock Car Racing," is made for the SONY Playstation platform. Amick, along with fellow NASCAR Busch Series drivers Jason Jarrett, Justin Labonte and Hank Parker, Jr., will serve as spokespersons for the new release.

Over Before It Began- The two-car effort of Team Amick Motorsports barely got their tires hot before both entries were involved in a crash last Saturday night at Gateway International Raceway. Lyndon Amick, driving the No. 35 POWERTEL/Mitsubishi Wireless Phones Chevy, and Ken Schrader, driving the No. 88 Team Amick entry in a one-race arrangement, both sustained severe damage to their race machines in the lap-two incident.

While Amick was able to return to the track and pick up a few positions after repairs, Schrader, who is not running for points, took his entry behind the wall.

"It's frustrating, that's for sure," Amick said of the short outing. "I hate it for the team, and I hate it for Ken. Both of us felt like we had strong cars, but we didn't get to show it. This is about the fourth time this year we've gotten caught up in someone else's mess. I'm ready for a good finish." <pre> Lyndon Amick's Career Busch Series Statistics at Indianapolis Raceway Park Year Finish Start Laps Winnings Condition 8/6/99 21 32 199 / 200 $7,480.00 Running 7/31/98 22 3 199 / 200 $4,445.00 Running 8/1/97 15 38 200 / 200 $4,115.00 Running
