Terry Cook to try his hand on radio

CHICAGO, IL (February 27, 2003) -NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Terry Cook will take the exciting rush of the race track to Friday morning rush hour traffic each week this season, courtesy of WUSN 99.5 FM in Chicago. Cook, driver of the No. 29 Power Stroke® Diesel Ford in NCTS competition, will join the morning drive team of Big John, Trish and Ramblin' Ray as the official NASCAR analyst on the Chicago based 'America's Country Station.'

"I was in the Chicago market last week and did a studio guest spot on US 99.5 to talk about NASCAR and by the time the interview was over, Ramblin' Ray asked me to be their on-air NASCAR analyst and preview all three NASCAR divisions - Winston Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck - every Friday morning during rush hour," said Cook. "I really had a blast with those guys and I'm sure we're going to have a lot of fun with this throughout the season. It's also great for my team sponsor, International Truck and Engine Corporation, manufacturer of the Power Stroke Diesel engine, because they are corporately located in the Chicago area. So is our division sponsor, Sears Craftsman. There's a lot of interest in NASCAR in the Chicago area now because Chicagoland Speedway is right down the highway in Joliet. This is going to be a great way to highlight NASCAR in a big market as well as bring some additional attention to our corporate partners."

Cook was also quick to point out the link between NASCAR and country music fans is and always has been a strong one.

"NASCAR fans love country music and US 99.5 is the biggest country station in Chicago, so I'm sure there are going to be plenty of NASCAR fans listening in," Cook stated. "It's also great way to reach Power Stroke Diesel owners because customer surveys show more than 50 percent of them list country as their favorite kind of music. Heck, even Ramblin' Ray drives a Power Stroke Diesel Ford truck. I'm sure Big John, Trish and Ramblin' Ray and Executive Producer Katherine Kelly are going to have a lot of fun with this. We're even going to put a WUSN 99.5 decal on our No. 29 Power Stroke Diesel Ford for the rest of the season to draw attention to the program."

Cook, a six-year competitor of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, scored four division wins a year ago. In 141 career NCTS starts to date, Cook owns five victories, 19 Top-5 and 51 Top-10 finishes. He also avidly follows NASCAR's other two top divisions and hopes to give fans some insight into the schedule of NASCAR events every weekend.

"I keep a close eye on the Winston Cup and Busch Series," said Cook. "Like everyone else, I'm a race fan too and I try to watch every race I can. I am confident that I will be able to provide some insight to what the fans can look for each week, both on and off the track."

Cook will return to action in his Power Stroke Diesel Ford in the Craftsman 200 at Darlington Raceway Friday, March 14 at 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The event will be telecast live on Speed Channel and broadcast live on MRN Radio nationwide.
