David Starr sets his sights on Texas
Fort Worth-Dallas...
Setting their sights on putting their No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Chevy in the front of the field, David Starr and the Spears Motorsports crew head for Texas Motor Speedway and the running of the O'Reilly Auto Parts 400K, Friday, June 11 at 9:00 P.M.
Racing in Texas is definitely special to me," says Starr with a warm style. "First off, I love the track. It is smooth and just a great place to race. Next off, it is my home track and knowing that all my friends and family are up in the stands cheering for me is a real natural high. This home state of mine boasts tons of Chevy trucks just like the one I race. With all that support out there it sure would be good to put my Spears Chevy Silverado right in Victory Lane."
With just six rounds of the 25-race NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series completed, Starr is already sitting in 9th place in the point's chase. Last year at Texas, he finished in second place, right behind former Craftsman Truck Series competitor Brendan Gaughan.
"Brendan moving on to Winston Cup has certainly opened the door for another driver to take the glory," says Starr. He was definitely master of this track for the past couple of years. Now it is a whole new ballgame and one that I would like to be part of. So far this season, there have been six different winners in six races. The competition is so fierce this year that you can't afford to let your concentration lapse for even a single second. That's what makes this series so exciting. Other than driving ability, and a good crew, doing well definitely requires a strong truck and that's what we have with our Chevy Silverado. It is top of the line and ideally suited for this series."
One of the top-ranked competitors in the Craftsman Truck Series, Starr and Spears Motorsports definitely know what it takes to win. "Winning is all a matter of everyone on the entire team working together like a perfectly oiled machine," says Starr. "It's the same in all team sports, you have to all be on the same page and work together. That's always our plan and with a little luck this Friday, everything will jell and we will end up in front."
