Brian Scott won the pole for Saturday night’s EnjoyIllinois.com 300.
Following three rounds of qualifying at Chicagoland Speedway, the No. 2 Chevy emerged on the pole for Saturday night’s Nationwide Series race.
"Our Chevy had great speed all weekend," Scott said. "Really proud at everybody at RCR for the equipment we’re bringing to the race track right now, it’s really a testament to them. It’s a lot of fun.
“We’ve got our game faces on. We’re going out there to win the $100,000 and to try to win the race. I think we’ve got a car that’s capable of it. It’s going to be a lot of fun racing under the lights at Chicago. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve done it. It will be a great show for the fans.”
Scott’s quick lap of 177.807 mph was the fastest among all three sessions and solid enough to earn his fourth career pole in the Nationwide Series and his second at the 1.5-mile track.
Ty Dillon topped the first session with a lap of 177.585 mph. But Scott posted the best lap in the second round of time trials (177.212 mph) and the top time (30.370 seconds) overall.
Dillon, Scott’s Richard Childress Racing teammate, will share the front row. Rookies Chase Elliott and Erik Jones make up the second row followed Kasey Kahne, Sam Hornish Jr., Elliott Sadler and Ryan Blaney.
Following damage in the first round, Brendan Gaughan’s crew made repairs to the No. 62 Chevy which enabled him to post the ninth fastest lap. Cale Conley, who was fastest in Happy Hour, rolls off 10th.
