Parker Racing announces sponsorship change
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 4, 1998) Ron Parker, owner and president of Parker Racing Inc., has announced changes to his team's sponsorship package for the 1999 NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division season. The familiar black and red No. 72 Parker Racing Chevrolet, which will be driven by Hermie Sadler will carry MGM Brakes as its primary sponsor. The team's associate sponsors will be Peebles Department Stores; a long-time supporter of Sadler, based in South Hill, Va., near Sadler's hometown of Emporia. Parker Racing's former primary sponsor, Detroit Gasket, will return, but as an associate sponsor for the 1999 season. "I'm very excited about our new sponsorship lineup," Parker said. "MGM Brakes has been a long-time associate sponsor on my team's cars and has had a keen interest in utilizing motorsports as a venue for the promotion of its products. As a manufacturer of spring brakes and service chambers for the heavy duty truck industry for over 40 years, MGM will gain further visibility in the marketplace through primary sponsorship. Many racing fans are involved in the trucking industry in one way or another, so increased involvement in motorsports will be beneficial for the company. Throughout 1999, MGM Brakes will also be developing ways to pay tribute to truckers for the valuable work they do. Motorsports will afford the company a highly visible venue to express its appreciation to the trucking industry in general, and customers specifically, whether through on-car decals or at-the-track programs. "I am also happy to welcome aboard Peebles Department Stores as a new associate sponsor," Parker said. "They have been a strong supporter of Hermie Sadler the last few years, and we look forward to working with an organization such as Peebles which fully recognizes the numerous benefits of NASCAR sponsorship. "I am also proud to have Detroit Gasket once again supporting our racing efforts. While traditionally our primary sponsor, their new associate sponsorship status will continue to allow them to effectively promote their automotive gaskets to their industry and customers. "The entire Parker Racing organization truly appreciates the confidence our sponsors have in us. With the support of such devoted sponsors as MGM Brakes, Peebles Department Stores, and Detroit Gasket, I look forward to great success in the BGN Series for 1999." Parker Racing was founded in 1989 and the team's shop in currently located in Mooresville, N.C. Ron Parker is also Chairman, President and CEO of Indian Head Industries, Inc. (IHI), a major international automotive and heavy duty truck parts supplier headquartered in Charlotte, N.C.
