REUTIMANN TO CARRY SPECIAL PAINT SCHEME ON AARON'S DREAM MACHINE DESIGNED BY NINE-YEAR-OLD FOR AARON'S 312
TALLADEGA, Ala. (April 18, 2007) -- David Reutimann will carry a special paint scheme on his No. 99 Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota Camry at Talladega Superspeedway in the NASCAR Busch Series Aaron's 312 that nine-year-old Marina Sansom from Madras, Oregon designed. Sansom was chosen as having the winning car art for Aaron's nationwide "Color Your Way to Talladega" sweepstakes. Sansom along with her family will attend the race courtesy of Aaron's to see the florescent crayon design come to life and also root for the Aaron's Dream Team.
"It felt really good to win the contest," said Sansom. "I like all colors and I couldn't just pick one. I've never been to a race and I've never met a racecar driver, so this is really exciting to me. I told all my friends and my teacher. They think it's really cool that my design and name is on the car. It will be special to me and my family to see it in person."
Sansom's mother recalls her daughter entering the contest.
"We ran across an Aaron's ad in the newspaper about the 'Color Your Way to Talladega' promotion and I went online and downloaded the form for Marina," said Marina's mother Jill Sansom. "Marina enjoys entering coloring contests. She's right-brained and very artsy. She said that she wanted to use every color in the rainbow for her design. The car is bright and something that will stand out on the track. She doesn't have a full appreciation of how big this event really is. However, when she arrives at Talladega Superspeedway and sees her design firsthand on the car for the Aaron's 312, she will be incredibly excited. She will then grasp that this is a once and a lifetime opportunity thanks to Aaron's."
Aaron's is pleased to make Sansom's dreams come to life.
"Aaron's is the official title sponsor of both the NASCAR Busch Series and NEXTEL Cup Series events at Talladega Superspeedway and we wanted to have a special paint scheme for our Aaron's Dream Machine to help commemorate our Dream Weekend," said Ken Butler, President of Aaron's Sales and Lease Ownership. "This our second year with our 'Color Your Way to Talladega' promotion and we are honored to recognize nine-year-old Marina Sansom for her original design. The car is vibrant and full of energy like our organization and we can't wait to see it in action."
In addition to attending the race, Sansom and her family will meet David Reutimann as he prepares for his first running of the Aaron's 312 and Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway.
"I can't wait to meet Marina," Reutimann said. "She did a fantastic job of designing our Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota Camry for the Aaron's 312. Our car is normally blue, white and gold. This week it will be purple, cyan, lime green, magenta, orange, red and different shades of blue. I think she did incorporate every color of the rainbow."
Although Reutimann has not raced a NASCAR Busch Series or NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series entry at the 2.66-mile tri-oval, he did finish sixth last season in the No. 17 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Tundra driving for Darrell Waltrip Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event.
"I had a blast racing there last year," Reutimann said. "It was one of the best times I had racing a truck last season. I think I'll have just as much fun in a Busch car. It's definitely a weekend we need to perform. Aaron's has a huge presence at the track that weekend especially since they are the title sponsor of both events. It feels good to have several Aaron's representatives on hand to cheer us on. We want to perform for them and deliver a victory in their event."
