Jeb Burton to make NASCAR Xfinity Series return
Jeb Burton is returning to the NASCAR Xfinity Series, at least for two more races this season.
Burton was 11th in the series standings when his Richard Petty Motorsports No. 43 team shut down following the May race at Charlotte due to sponsorship issues.
Biagi-DenBeste Racing announced Tuesday that Burton would drive its No. 98 Ford with sponsorship from Estes Express Lines in two Xfinity races this season – July 23 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Sept. 9 at Richmond, Va.
“I'm really excited to get back on the track in the Xfinity Series with Biagi-DenBeste Racing,” Burton said in a statement. “They’ve shown they have fast cars and just scored a big win at Daytona. I'm thrilled to again partner with Estes. They are a great company and have been big supporters of my career.”
This is the second time Burton, the son of NASCAR veteran Ward Burton, has driven the No. 98 Ford. He drove the car to a 15th place finish at Charlotte in 2014.
Estes Express Lines, a full-service freight transportation provider headquartered in Virginia, has previously partnered with Burton in both the Sprint Cup and Truck series.
Burton, 23, owns one victory in the Truck series and his career-best finish in Xfinity is eighth at Kentucky in 2013.
