Gase, 24, will pilot the No. 35 Sparks Energy car in the Xfinity Series for team owner Archie St. Hilaire. The pair has partnered in both the Monster Energy Cup Series and NXS tours on a limited basis since 2011.

Patrick Donahue, who oversaw Gase’s racing effort in 2017, will continue as his crew chief.

"Sparks Energy is a great family owned and operated company," Gase said. “The owners, J and Magen, pour their hearts into the company and treat everyone like family. They're truly living the American dream. I love their hardworking style and great ethics.

“It's crazy to think that my partnership with Sparks all began with a Twitter message. I got an email back from the president of the company and the rest is history. I can't wait to get to Daytona and run with this great team. I can't thank Archie and everyone at Go Green Racing enough for the opportunity and Sparks Energy for making it happen.”

Sparks Energy Inc., has sponsored Gase since 2016. This year, the company will expand its involvement as the entitlement sponsor of the Talladega Superspeedway Xfinity Series race—the Sparks Energy 300—on April 28.

St. Hilaire’s foray into NASCAR started with what is now the Xfinity Series in 2009 before switching gears to Cup in 2014. Last year with Matt DiBenedetto behind the wheel of the No. 32 Go Fas Racing Ford, the team scored its first top 10 finishes in the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400.

Gase’s entry will mark the first time St. Hilaire will field a full-time team with a single driver on the Xfinity tour.

"It's been such a pleasure being part of Joey's career," St. Hilaire said. "My family has been very lucky to be part of many firsts for Joey's career and we look forward to creating great memories together again this year. With Sparks Energy, Donate Life, and many of our other great partners on-board, we hope to make the 2018 NASCAR Playoffs and compete with some of the big teams.

“We see a lot of potential in Joey, and hopefully we can move him up to Go FAS Racing in 2019 with a two-car Cup operation."

Gase finished 22nd in the 2017 NXS standing with two top-10 finishes to his credit.
