In 10 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS), Kahne has proved impressive with one pole (2010), four top-five and seven top-10 finishes. He has 95 laps led with an average start of 11.2 and an average finish of 8.9.

In NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition at AMS, Kahne is credited with two wins (2006 and 2009), two poles (2006 and 2011), six top-five and eight top-10 finishes. He has a total of 328 laps led with an average start of 9.1 and an average finish of 18.3.

The fact that AMS is one of Kahne's better tracks is markedly indicated by his statistics there. He is ranked in the top-10 in all of the NASCAR Loop Data Categories and in the top-five in a number of them as well including Average Running Position (6th), Driver Rating (5th), Fastest Drivers Early in a Run (5th), Fastest Drivers Late in a Run (4th), Fastest Laps Run (4th), Fastest Laps Run (3rd), Fastest on Restarts (4th), Green Flag Passes (3rd), Green Flag Speed (4th), Laps in the Top-15 (2nd), Laps Led (5th), Speed by Quarter (3rd), and Speed in Traffic (4th).

Trent Owens, who has led James Buescher and Nelson Piquet Jr. to NNS victories this season, has recently taken over as crew chief for the No. 38 Great Clips team with drivers Kahne and Brad Sweet. A former driver himself, Owens is a long-time fixture in the NASCAR garage. Over the years, the Darlington, S.C., native has been successful working with a variety of drivers with different levels of experience and has visited victory lane with both rookies and veterans alike including Buescher, Piquet. Jr., Mark Martin, Dave Blaney and Reed Sorenson.

The No. 38 team will unload chassis TMS-329 this weekend at AMS. This is the same chassis in which Kahne captured the pole at the inaugural NNS race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In that event, Kahne ran in the top-10 for a majority of the day until he was forced to pit unexpectedly for a tire going down in the closing laps. He went on to finish 25th.

Kahne on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway: "Atlanta is my favorite track. Your car may be good on the bottom early in the race, but as the track changes, the car may work better up top. It's important to move around to make sure you are running the quickest line. A line that didn't work early may be the right line later in the race.

The racing is exciting and the speeds you carry there just make it that much more fun. We had a great run last weekend at Bristol, which was my first time working with Trent Owens (crew chief) and his guys. I think the chemistry there is good and I can see a win for Great Clips being right around the corner."
