Abraham Calderon scores important victory in Puebla

The third date of the season had a similar format since it was a competition of 50 minutes with a mandatory pit stop. Calderon, winner of pole position, was quickly attacked by Santiago Tovar, Chevrolet No. 26 to be displaced from the tip. Xavi Razo, No. 77 Toyota, quickly attacked Tovar to take the first place in the competition.

Tovar entered the seventh round to the pit to comply with his mandatory detention however, was sanctioned by a slow step by pits since it was established that no pilot could enter the pits until the eighth round of competition, with that penalty dropped to The tenth site. At the top the fight continued between Razo and Calderón with Rubén Rovelo approaching the point.

Calderón and Rovelo entered a turn later and Razo followed another lap with a lead of 14 seconds over their rivals. After the pit stops the order of the first three was with Razo, Rovelo and Rubén García Mateos who came back from the 12th place.

The competition looked like it would have no changes but a safety car's exit in the last 11 minutes before the explosion of Max Gonzalez's No. 37 car engine forced a yellow flag period to clear the runway.

With eight minutes in the clock, the competition resumed and Razo kept the first place while Abraham Calderón jumped to second place over Ruben Rovelo who in turn descended to fourth after being overtaken by Michel Jourdain Jr.

Calderón attacked the inside of the main straight to Razo with two laps to the checkered flag to take the victory, leaving Razo in second place and Jourdain closing the podium.

"It had been a long time since the last NASCAR Mexico victory and this is very special. The team has done a great job. At the end it seemed that we did not have but we found the space and pace to attack. It was a great victory. Now we have to think about being constant and not losing the rhythm, "Calderón said.
