Pottsville, PA - January 6 - To avoid a scheduling conflict, Big Diamond Raceway officials have announced that their annual preseason car show will be held from February 18th to 24th at the Fairlane Village Mall in Pottsville, PA, one week earlier than usual.

Competitors interested in displaying their cars for the 2001 racing season are invited to contact Big Diamond co-promoter, JoAnn Roehrig, at (570) 544-6434 or at PO Box 298, Minersville, PA 17954-0298 for show applications or information. Car will be place in the mall on Sunday, February 18th after it closes at 5 PM and will leave the show on Saturday night, February 24th.

"Last year the Reading Racer's Reunion Car Show was moved, putting it in direct conflict with our annual Big Diamond show," commented Big Diamond co-promoter JoAnn Roehrig. "Once again this year we were scheduled for the same dates but the new management team at the Fairlane Village Mall has been gracious enough to work with us to move our date."

The show will once again include the annual pit crew tire changing competition and the Georgie Stevenson Memorial Charities auction. Also representatives from Big Diamond Raceway will be on hand providing 2001 schedules, membership applications and information throughout the week.

There have been many questions as to whether or not Big Diamond Raceway will continue to be associated with NASCAR for the 2001 racing season. Contracts have not been signed at this time and are normally signed during the month of February. A final decision will be made just prior to the car show.

The Fairlane Village Mall is located just north of Pottsville, PA on Route 61.

Big Diamond will open the 2001 racing season on Sunday afternoon, April 1, at 2 PM with a racing card featuring the Modifieds, Sportsman Stocks, and Roadrunners. The same format will be followed on April 8. The track will be dark over the Easter weekend with racing shifting to Friday nights staring on April 20. <pre> Sun,2/18,5p-Sat,2/24,9p Big Diamond/Fairlane Village Mall Car Show, Pottsville, PA Sun-Sat 2/25-3/3 Reading (PA) Racers' Reunion Car Show
