DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (August 23, 2001) - As the end of the season rapidly approaches, ShorTrack Series Division competitors in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series are putting their best foot forward in attempt to move up in their respective track championship standings. Each weekend, local competitors throughout the nation seek to garner local, regional and national recognition in the ShorTrack Division Competition Performance Index (CPI) standings in each of their respective regions within the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series. Edward Brehio of Baldwinville, MA, has jumped into the top spot in the Northeast Region of the ShorTrack Division. Brehio, who competes in the Late Model division at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH, has earned four wins in 15 starts this season. Todd Price of Alum Bank, PA, has moved to second in the regional standings. Price, who competes in the Pro Truck division at Jennerstown (PA) Speedway, has collected nine wins this season. Doug Meyer, Lorain County Speedway in South Amherst, OH; Dave Dissinger, Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA, and Peter "Buzzy" Eriksen, Riverhead (NY) Raceway, round out the top five in the Northeast Region of the ShorTrack Division in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series.
Dissinger looked back in his early season form last Friday in action at Big Diamond Raceway and may be ready to finish with two strong point race wins in the final two weeks to strengthen his hold on Big Diamond's Sportsman title and raise his CPI to contend with Ed Brehio, Todd Price and Doug Meyer.
