Lakeville, CT -- Young Ryan Moore and team traveled to Lime Rock Park in Western Connecticut Thursday afternoon to complete the final race of his rookie season. The road course set up of Lime Rock Park proved to be a challenge for the Moore Racing team from the very start.

The first thirty minute practice session was a major let down for the Moore Racing team. Bad luck came early and the R.C. Moore/Bill Dodge/Shell Rotella Monte Carlo littered the race track with oil as the result of a broken oil line. Clean-up from the mishap took the entire thirty minutes scheduled for practice time.

Moore's second chance at practice proved to be much more satisfying. The young rookie got a good feel for the track and enjoyed the challenging layout of the course. The Moore Racing team looked forward to the third practice session as a chance to perfect the set up of the car. Unfortunately, bad luck came knocking once again and a broken rear end changed any plans that the team had made. This meant disaster for the rookie, for time trials were in the near future. Young Moore and his team would have to frantically replace the entire rear end. Time constraints may not have been met if it were not for the help they received from their fellow teammates. Father Kelly Moore and team never thought twice about rushing to help in any way they possibly could. "The 47 team was quick to give us a hand," said Moore, "The teamwork here today was remarkable." The teams had very little time to remove an entire rear end from a back-up car to use as a replacement. Covered from head to toe in oil and grease, the teams completed what had to be done to get Moore in line for time trials.

After an extremely stressful afternoon, the young rookie geared up to qualify his R.C. Moore Monte Carlo by means of European style time trials. The cars went out in groups of five or six, where the fastest lap time would be taken from three laps. The young rookie turned a time that would give him a respectable 16th place starting spot for the feature event.

The final race of the season got off to a good start for Young Moore. He held his own on the track and had quickly made his way to the 7th spot. On lap 20, Moore felt something odd and radioed to his crew that the rear end seemed to be giving him trouble. Crew chief Rollie Lachance reported back to the rookie that he better make his way to the pit on his next time by. With a quick look at the rear of the car, the 74 team regrettably pushed the car to the transporter for repairs. With hopes to get young Moore back on the track, it was soon determined the damages were un-fixable. Moore was forced to park his R.C. Moore Chevrolet and call it a day. His Rookie season had quickly come to an end, finishing his last race of the season in the 33rd spot.

The Moore Racing team got off to an outstanding start of the 2003 season. Although the second half of the season seemed to be filled with bad luck, Moore earned himself a well-achieved Rookie title and the 11th spot in the Grand National Division, Busch North Series point standings. Moore had set a goal for himself to finish in the top ten for the 2003 season. He only missed that goal by eleven points. Ryan would like to thank his devoted team, his loyal family and friends, his dedicated sponsors, and last but not least his committed race fans. His successful debut on the Busch North Series would not haven been complete without them.
