Penfold Motorsports Signs DNK Select Used Cars To NHIS Sponsorship
(Yarmouth, Maine - July 8, 2004) - Penfold Motorsports, a NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series team based in Yarmouth, Maine, has announced that DNK Select Used Cars of Farmingdale, Maine, has agreed to become an associate sponsor for the team's No. 0 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the Busch North race to be held at New Hampshire International Speedway on Saturday, July 24th.
"we're really excited to be able to have DNK Select Used Cars as a sponsor on our car for Loudon," Bill Penfold, driver for Penfold Motorsports, said. "In the last few years, they've really increased their presence in the New England racing scene and we're proud to be the team to bring them to New Hampshire International Speedway to race in front of a live television audience and a NASCAR Nextel Cup crowd."
DNK Select Used Cars has been one of the biggest backers of the Pro All Stars Series for touring Pro Stocks, sponsoring the DNK Select 250 at Unity Raceway last month and providing the series its pace car. They also sponsor Unity's Super Street division, DNK Select Used Cars Night at Oxford Plains Speedway, and PASS driver Johnny Clark.
Their association with Penfold Motorsports marks the first time they appear on a NASCAR Busch North Series effort.
Penfold Motorsports has been a near-constant presence in Busch North since making his series debut in 1994 after a successful rise through the ranks of Maine Pro Stock racing. Bill Penfold's best finish came in 2002 at Seekonk Speedway where he recorded a second place finish. His best points finish is twelfth in 1998. An injury kept Penfold out of the driver's seat for most of the 2003 season, but he's returned to full-time status in 2004 and runs ninth in points after six races with one top-five finish (fourth at Lime Rock Park) and two top-tens.
Penfold has enjoyed success at New Hampshire International Speedway in the past, despite not having raced there in 2003. The year before, Penfold rose from the 30th starting position to finish sixteenth in the July race, picking up the award for improving the most positions from start to finish.
The New England 125 at New Hampshire International Speedway will be broadcast live on HDNet television with coverage starting at 3:30 p.m., and rebroadcast on SpeedTV on Saturday, September 4th at noon.
