There's not much that hasn't been said about Dave Dion, but the ageless wonder continues to amaze as he reaches the 200-start mark of his Busch North Series career. At Seekonk he recorded his 21st career Busch Pole, his second of the season, and led over half the distance before finishing fifth. The six-lap side-by-side duel between Dion and Andy Santerre from laps 73 to 78 was as good as short track stock car racing gets.

Dion told HDNet's Mike Hogewood that his Seekonk car was originally built in 1990, although it's been continuously upgraded since then including the switch from Thunderbird to Taurus sheet metal. "Dynamite Dave" has been racing at Seekonk since 1966 and captured the Busch North Series return to the Cement Palace in 2000.

Seated next to Dion at the Seekonk autograph session was Ryan Moore, whose career is just beginning. The second generation of the racing Moore family has been mentioned favorably in printed interviews by Dale Earnhardt Inc. executive Richie Gilmore. DEI, of course, currently fields the Busch Series car for Martin Truex Jr., who regained that series point lead by finishing second at Nashville Saturday night. Ryan is currently third in the Busch North Series point race.

For the first time in memory on the Busch North Series, every starter in the Budweiser 150 was running at the finish. Twice in recent seasons, here at Seekonk last year and at Stafford in 2002, the entire field has been on the track with less than ten laps to go, but someone dropped out within sight of the checker.

It was not a field laced with rolling wrecks, either. Sixteen cars were on the lead lap and 22 of 23 were within two laps of the leader.

The PowerAde Power Move of the Race Award measures positions improved from start to finish and was won by Kelly Moore. If there was an award for cars passed, it would go to Joey McCarthy. He spun to the tail of the field early, recovered to run as high as seventh, spun two more times, at least once with some help from behind, and still finished 13th to preserve his seventh place in the point standings.

For the first time, Mike Johnson did not appear in the trademark Johnson Lumber red and black. The neon green Taurus was in the same paint as when the Johnsons acquired it from Roush Racing, where Jeff Burton drove it under Gain sponsorship.

Milestones... Mike Olsen, Matt Kobyluck, Brian Hoar, Kelly Moore, and Bryon Chew all had their best finishes of the season at Seekonk... Going back to Lime Rock, it needs to be noted that Bill Penfold's fourth place on the Connecticut road course was both his best of the year and his best since returning from his opening day 2003 injuries... Although Santerre and Brad Leighton have split the four races run to date, 11 drivers have recorded top-fives and 18 have top-ten finishes so far in 2004... Leighton's absence from Seekonk plunged him from the point lead out all the way to 12th. His announced schedule does not find Leighton returning to action until NHIS in July.
