Ted Christopher Improves In Stafford Busch North Competition, Finishes Third

(Stafford Springs, Conn. - Aug. 10, 2005) - Ted Christopher finished fourth in the first NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series race held at Stafford Motor Speedway earlier this year. Coming back for the track's second Busch North date, Christopher picked up a position in the Recycle America Chevrolet to finish third.

Despite losing some practice time due to the NDS Motorsports hauler arriving late, Christopher instantly jumped to the top of the speed charts once he took to the track. However, the tire choice may have played a role in his winding up only tenth in time trials.

"We were really good in practice," the Plainville, Conn. driver said. "We put stickers on it for qualifying and maybe that wasn't the right way to go for time trials. But tenth isn't bad, and I think we've got a real good car for the race. It was real consistent in the last runs we made in practice, so we'll see what happens in 150 laps. I've started eighteenth here and won before, so I'm already eight spots ahead of that."

Christopher was right about his having a good car for the race, as it only took him just seven laps to get to fifth place. On lap 21 he took third from Ryan Moore, and in just a handful of laps later he took second from Brian Hoar.

When many lead lap drivers made pit stops under a lap 65 caution, Christopher elected to stay on the track and maintained second place behind leader Andy Santerre. Following the lap 74 restart, Christopher hung tough outside of Santerre and came away with the race lead.

Christopher's lead lasted through a red flag period and past the hundred-lap mark of the 150-lap race, but he soon had his hands full with drivers coming back from pit stops.

Ryan Moore caught Christopher on lap 110 and pressured him for the lead, but Christopher turned back his challenge despite Moore's tapping Christopher on lap 113. But a lap 122 restart gave Moore a shot at the lead, and he took it. Brian Hoar also passed Christopher, relegating him to third, but that's as far as he fell. As the laps wound down, Christopher caught Hoar and made a bid to pass him for second, but he was unsuccessful and had to settle for third place.

The Stafford race will be broadcast later on SpeedTV, check local listings for date and time.

The next Busch North race for Christopher and NDS Motorsports will be at New Hampshire International Speedway, Friday, September 16th.
