BNS: Thompson finale date announced

NASCAR AND THOMPSON INTL SPEEDWAY RE-SCHEDULE WORLD SERIES OF AUTO RACING TO OCT. 29-30; MODIFIED PORTION OF TWIN 100'S CANCELLED

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 21, 2005) -- The World Series of Auto Racing presented by Whelen Engineering & XTRA/MART NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Thompson International Speedway has been postponed to the weekend of Oct. 29-30, due to widespread forecasts for inclement weather on Oct. 22-23. The Whelen Modified Tour portion of the New England Dodge Dealers Twin 100's, which was rescheduled for Oct. 29, is now cancelled. The NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series portion of the New England Dodge Dealers Twin 100's has been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 30.

The Busch North Series will conclude its season at Thompson on that date. Qualifying for the World Series will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 to determine Sunday's 32-car starting field. For the sixth consecutive year, the World Series will determine the Whelen Modified Tour champion. Ted Christopher, of Plainville, Conn., leads defending champion Tony Hirschman by 36 points. With one race remaining to settle the championship, Christopher can clinch the title with a seventh-place finish, or better, in the World Series at Thompson next Sunday.
