Mitchell, Hulburd named to top Busch North Series, Nascar Touring race official positions.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 20, 2002) - Officials of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing have announced the appointment of two key race officials for the 2002 Busch North Series, NASCAR Touring season. Andy Mitchell has accepted the position of Technical Director and John Hulburd will serve as Race Director.

Mitchell, of West Burke, Vt., is a former Busch North Series car owner and crew chief. He fielded the car with which Brandon Butler won the 1995 Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year Award, and more recently served as crew chief for Busch North Series star Bobby Dragon.

Hulburd, of Burlington, Vt., brings a wealth of race officiating experience in northern New England and eastern Canada.. During his 20-year career his assignments have included race director, chief starter, technical inspector, and pit steward at the track and touring series level.

"Andy and John bring a lot of experience to the Busch North Series," said Chris Boals, director of NASCAR Touring and the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge. "In their capacities, they'll assist a new generation of officials to oversee many aspects of the Busch North Series and we expect a great year for everyone in 2002."

The Busch North Series begins its 2002 season on Sunday, April 21, at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, N.H. During the 19-race campaign, teams will compete for over $2,000,000 in posted awards at tracks in eight states. Seven of those events will be telecast nationally by SPEED Channel, and four will be held in conjunction with the NASCAR Winston Cup Series.
