Anderson posts top 10 finishes in first event.
(South Boston Speedway, March 29th) The Family Homes of America 300 presented by Sheetz was the first race of the season for Team Anderson and driver Bruce Anderson. Bruce turned his first competitive laps in the NASCAR sanctioned Sheetz Limited Sportsman Division for the NASCAR Shortrack Series of the Dodge Weekly Racing Series. This nationally sanctioned division is the NASCAR equivalent to Minor League Baseball.
Bruce started mid-pack in his first race and charged hard to the eighth position by the end of the first race. After making contact with another competitor at the end of the event, Crew Chief Greg Davis and crew went to work making sure that Bruce would be ready for race two.
"We had some front end damage and had to set the front end back to make it race ready, but Bruce was pumped to give it another go and we made sure the car was there", said Davis.
"The change in horsepower for a Limited took a little getting used to", said Anderson (2002 Pure Stock Rookie of the Year), " but Greg's done a great job setting up the car and when the green waves, it's all business in the Charles Anderson Lawn Care Chevrolet. Having to come from the middle of the pack was a great ride. Were able to pick up some positions and race towards the front. It was pretty awesome."
The Team Anderson Machine looked more like a modified for the second race, but that didn't slow down Bruce's competitive fire. Running with the lead pack, Bruce finished in tenth and capped off a very successful debut for Team Anderson.
"It was hard to watch", said team owner Charles Anderson (father to Bruce), "I was all nerves during qualifying and when the race started it wasn't much better. But he really pulled it off and even though we had some damage, to finish in the Top 10 in our first time out is very encouraging. It's the start of some good things here with this Charles Anderson Lawn Care Team."
