Moffitt wins pole; ASM driver, 16, goes out last & puts No. 44 first

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Brett Moffitt got loose coming off Turn 4 for his second qualifying lap, but kept it under control enough to rocket across the start-finish line. His reward was the Coors Light Pole Award for the NASCAR Home Tracks 150 presented by Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet, in his first career start.

Moffitt, the final driver to take a qualifying lap, put up a lap of 20.691 seconds around the half-mile Greenville Pickens Speedway for an average speed of 89.919. It was enough for his No. 44 Andy Santerre Motorsports Chevrolet to knock Brian Ickler (No. 15 Brian Ickler Motorsports Chevrolet) off the pole. Ickler had a fast lap of 20.709 (86.919).

The 16-year-old driver is just three months older than Joey Logano was when the latter set the series record with the Coors Light Pole at Greenville Pickens in 2007. It's also the second Coors Light Pole Award for Andy Santerre Motorsports, who has two of the three wins at Greenville Pickens with drivers Sean Caisse (2006) and Austin Dillon (2008).

Eddie MacDonald (No. 71 Grimm Construction Chevrolet) qualified third at 20.937 (85.972). Steve Park and Ryan Truex rounded out the top five qualifiers. Defending series champion Matt Kobyluck qualified eighth.
