Fourth Consecutive Finish of Eighth or Better
Huntersville, N.C. (August 17, 2009) - Hispanic driver and NASCAR Drive for Diversity graduate Jesus Hernandez continued his trailblazing ways this past weekend. This time the 27-year-old racer earned a sixth-place finish in Saturday's Camping World East Series event at the Lime Rock Park road course in Lakeville, Conn. For Hernandez, the result is now his fifth top-10 in seven starts he has made in the series this season. Hernandez is competing with Troy Williams with Sean Watts Racing.
"We've continued to make solid runs over the past two months," said Hernandez. "The competition is as good as any development series right now, so getting these results makes it even better. We led some laps this past weekend and we're getting better. I'm thankful for everyone on the team for this opportunity, and with some more funding I know we can easily compete for race wins."
Hernandez will finish out the 2009 Camping World East Series season for Troy Williams with Sean Watts Racing with hopes of advancing to the ARCA or NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2010. He is also a current employee and test driver at Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing.
"We're now looking forward to New Hampshire in September and ending the season at Dover," added Hernandez. "We'll be in front of some more sponsors and some Cup owners. That's where we all want to be. Hopefully we can continue this streak."
Hernandez is competing in his third consecutive season in the Camping World East Series after graduating from NASCAR's Drive for Diversity program in 2008. He finished third in the championship last year.
