BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 23, 2001 . . . For the second straight week, and fifth time this season, rain washed out NASCAR stock car racing at the Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. The Deka Batteries sponsored night of NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 14, along with Checkered Flag Fan Club Night.

"This is the worst we can remember for the start of a season. It seems that everytime we turn on the weather report, they are talking about rain. We have lost six shows so far including one of our sprint shows. Maybe it is time to think about putting the Sunday rain dates back in place," said event organizer Bruce Rogers.

Rogers and his hard working track crew worked on the track from the early morning hours and watched as the rains came at about 4:15 p.m. and wiped out all their work and forced the cancellation just as race teams and fans were starting to arrive at the track. They'll give it another try next Saturday.

Coming up at Grandview this Saturday, June 30, there will be a doubleheader show of racing action featuring the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models. At least 12 big events of auto racing entertainment.

And on Saturday, July 7, the annual Firecracker 40 Late Model Championship stock car race will be presented along with a full show of NASCAR Modified stock car racing. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m. And again this year there will be an exciting FIREWORKS show as has been a tradition for several years.
