Nick de Bruijn is ready for the next challenge

VLAARDINGEN, 30 May 2008 - Because Nick de Bruijn likes challenges, he chose to race in the United States instead of Europe. The 21-year-old driver from Vlaardingen is the only Dutchman in the Stock Car Racing, which is traditional an 'all-American' motorsport series. The future of the young talented driver looks promising after an encouraging debut in his United States race adventure. De Bruijn is now focusing on his ultimate target: racing in the NASCAR Series.

"We have been able to secure a very promising deal for the NASCAR Camping World East race at Watkins Glen with Jeff Spraker Racing", says Nick de Bruijn. During the weekend at Watkins Glen there will be two main events: the Camping World East Series and the Grand-Am series. Nick will be driving as the main-event on the Sunday, while the Grand-Am will have hers on Saturday. Testing will be done on the Friday before the event and quali fying will take place for on Saturday after the Grand-Am race. "Both series guarantee great racing, so it is expected to be a big event. Watkins Glen is one of the most spectacular race tracks that the United States has to offer, which will help as well. The race will be broadcasted by SPEED with delay, so that there is TV-coverage."

The Camping World East Series is known for creating great talent as they can develop against season veterans that have been driving the circuit for many years. "There is always a great amount of drivers so the starting field will be big, with lots of fast cars out there that will fight for the championship. The cars are the same cars that were being used in the NASCAR Cup series last year, so that tells that the equipment is of great quality. The only difference is the engine as our engine will have 500hp. Many drivers that have been driving the Camping World East Series already made it to the Cup level and many will follow", says Nick.

The Jeff Spraker Racing team has a lot of experience at Watkins Glen. They have been on the front row multiple times in the Nationwide Series (second level to the Cup) and besides they have had great amount of success in races over there. "This gives us the fact that we will be guaranteed a good car, that hopefully will help us get a good result", says the young Dutchman who already tested the fast race car.

"The test on Watkins Glen went very well. It was my first time on this fantastic and legendary circuit. The barriers are just next to the road, so it looks like a street circuit. There are many fast and challenging corners with also some very tight ones. It will be a big challenge to race here", thinks de Bruijn. "We were the fastest from the first moment we entered the track, even with using a test engine. We improved continually and we recorded fast laps after another. Eventually I was 'flying' with the Jeff Spraker Racing prepared car and we were mu ch quicker than the other competitors. Because of this very positive test day, we are well prepared for the race on 8 June", says Nick de Bruijn with great confidence.

Because the car is completely without sponsorship we figured that we are able to create a package in which we will sell small squares, to generate publicity in a particular way. It is an extraordinary opportunity for companies that want to be involved with a small budget and they want good publicity for it in return. The dimensions are 40cm by 12cm and will cost ^a750. If anything else is required we are more than happy to help you out. Nicks race will take place on 8th of June.
