Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring Express Oil Change 200

BIRMINGHAM, AL. (May 12 2001) - Steven Howard's, Dick Brooks Chevrolet/Greer Floor Center Chevrolet, broke up Wayne Anderson's bid for a fourth consecutive Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring victory Saturday night, winning the $49,550 Express Oil Change 200 at Birmingham International Raceway in Birmingham, Al. Howard, who pitted on lap 78 for new Hoosier shoes, took the point when Anderson and other top runners pitted on lap 120. Despite Anderson's Jani King Chevrolet having 42 laps of fresher tires, Howard used the second groove on the .625-mile oval to keep Anderson in second over the remaining 59 laps. Rounding out the top five finishers were Randy Genty, Bud Pole winner Mardy Lindley and Wireway/Husky Corporation Rookie-of-the-Year contender Charlie Bradberry. The win was Howard's third career Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring victory.
