DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. - The Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring will make its fourth stop at Memphis Motorsports Park in Millington, Tn. on October 11-12 for the running of the Recycled Oil 125. This scheduled 125-lap event, will be the first time the series has extended past the 100-lap mark as the three previous races have been scheduled 100-lap events. However two of the three races have been extended past the scheduled laps due to late race cautions and ending with a green-white-checkered condition.

This also will be the second time in 2001 that the Gatorade All Pro Series has shared an event with the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division. The two NASCAR Divisions were together at Kentucky Speedway earlier in the year.

A stellar field of drivers, including 2000 winner Scott Hansen, will fill the 36-car field led by Wayne Anderson who is looking towards a possible second series championship. After 13 of 16 events Anderson leads Randy Gentry by 43 points and third place driver Jeff Fultz by 59 points. The series ran at Nashville Speedway USA on September 29. "Memphis has not been good to us in our two races there," said Anderson.

"Last year we were involved in an accident and finished 19th and in '99 we at least managed to finish eighth on the lead lap."

"This race will be very important to our championship run this year.

Although we have never led a lap at Memphis we are not going to hold anything back in this race. We go to every race to win and you can't win playing a waiting game to see what happens to those you are contending with for the championship. The points are just too close." Anderson has five wins to his credit in 13 starts this season and has led 33% of laps run through 13 races despite only completing 93.00% of laps run. He is also the series career leader in wins with 20. Of the three possible championship contenders, Anderson, Randy Gentry and Jeff Fultz, Gentry has the highest finish at Memphis with a fifth in the 1999 event. Eddie Mercer, currently fifth in points finished third in 1999 in his only appearance at this track.

Steven Howard secured his first NASCAR touring series victory here in 1999 and is the only current series regular to have won at this beautiful ¾-mile oval. He also owns the best series over all record at Memphis. His average starting position has been 5.67 and he finished third last year behind Scott Hansen and Lee Tissot. In 1998 he finished a disappointing 24th after losing an engine five laps from the scheduled finish. Howard is seventh in series points in 2001 after 13 events and he recorded his second career win this year. He has also led more laps at this track, pacing 91 circuits of in his '99 victory.

Two other current series drivers have led laps at this track, Benny Gordon led 43 laps and Brian Smith led 11 laps during the '99 race. Memphis will be pivotal in the championship run of Fultz and Gentry. Fultz has the best average in starting a race with 10.67% in three starts and the highest finishing average at 12.67 in three races. Fultz has been tough on fast tracks. He won both events at the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway in 2001 and he won at Bristol Motor Speedway. Gentry has yet to win a series event but he has certainly been the most consistent driver on the series with an outstanding 99.5% laps completed average.

Action gets underway at Memphis Motorsports Park on Thursday, October 11 when the Gatorade All Pro Series, NASCAR Touring teams check in at 9:00 am. Practice will start at 12:00 pm for two hours with Qualifying for all 36 positions starting at 4:00 pm. The Recycled Oil 125 is set for 5:00 pm on Friday, October 12.
