SoBo Ready for Another Saturday Night of Huge Car Counts and Close Racing

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. -- The engines will roar for the second consecutive Saturday night at South Boston Speedway on April 10.

Through the first two events of the season, South Boston Speedway has been reeling in large car counts. The Late Model Stock Car Division has averaged 33 cars in the opening two events with over 10 past champions competing head to head. The Barkhouser Limited Sportsman Division has also drawn fields of 25-plus competitors each night.

The speedway will host a NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series program on Saturday with the first event of the five-race program slated to get the green flag at 7 p.m.

The featured attraction of Saturday night's race program will be a 150-lap event for the drivers in the Late Model Stock Car Division.

With a sweep of twin 110-lap races last weekend, Denny Hamlin is the current Late Model points leader. He owns an eight-point cushion over Timothy Peters, who finished second in both races last weekend.

Scott Worley is third in the points chase, followed by Wayne Ramsey in the fourth spot and one-time winner Peyton Sellers in fifth place.

In addition to the Late Model Stock Car Division race, Saturday's NASCAR program at South Boston will also include 50-lap races for the Barkhouser Limited Sportsman Division drivers and the touring Ford Focus Midget competitors as well as 30-lap races for the Pure Stock Division and Grand Stock Division.

With two wins under his belt thus far, Jonathan Cash, the defending champion of the Barkhouser Limited Sportsman Division, leads the points chase. He is 10 points ahead of a second-place tie between one-time winner Wally Latta and Jonathan Bailey. Troy Jones is another 10 points back in fourth place.

Tommy Wooldridge, who owns victories in the first two Pure Stock Division races, leads Donald Glass by 12 points in the points competition, while Jason Parker is third.

In the Grand Stock Division, Troy Dowdy, the winner of last week's season opener for the class, is in first place in the points race, while James Turner is second.

Pit gates will open at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Time Trials will begin at 5 p.m., following practice sessions for all divisions. Green flag flies at 7 p.m.

Adult admission for Saturday's race will be $8 up to 6:30 p.m. and $10 after that point. Youth, ages 10 through 15, will be admitted for $5 and children under the age of 10 will be admitted free with a paid adult.
