Big Daddy's Points Battles Close for July 26th Event

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (July 24, 2003)-- Competitors in each of the three divisions at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway will be chasing more than just a victory Saturday July 26th in the Domino's Night presented by Berryman. For some, this race may be pivotal in their quest for the track championship. On July 26th the stars of the Coors Light Late Models take to the track for a $3,000 to win 150-lap feature, with a 50 lapper scheduled for the Sheetz Limited Sportsman and a 30-lap contest for the GRAND Home Furnishings Pure Stocks.

On Saturday, July 26th, gates will open at 5 p.m., with qualifying beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the green flag is set for 7:00 p.m. The Pepsi Racing for Kids Challenge is set for 6 p.m. and is open for children age's four to seven. Adult tickets are only $10, with young adults (10-15) paying $5 and children 9 and under free.

Phillip Morris is leading the race for the Coors Light Late Model Stock Championship, leading Dean Ward by a 30-point edge. As of mid-July, Morris ranked second to Mark McFarland in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series Atlantic Region title hunt. With eleven starts, Morris has only finished outside the top ten once and has four victories.

Sheetz Limited Sportsman point leader, Jonathan Cash, would like to drive a Late Model Stock Car. But his immediate goal is to win the Sheetz Limited Sportsman Division championship. Not too lofty a goal, considering Cash tied with Bill Moshenek for the championship in 2002, and finished eight points behind champion Billy Myers in 2001. Cash is well on his way of achieving his goal of winning the championship in 2003, leading Wayne Roach by 20 points thus far the season.

GRAND Home Furnishings Pure Stock point leader, Tommy Wooldridge knows what has to be done to win a championship at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway. In eight races thus far this season, Wooldridge has amassed five wins. When he hasn't ended the race in victory lane, he has finished second, third and fifth. Wooldridge is tied in the points chase with second place, Billy Goble.

As part of pre-race ceremonies, three randomly chosen fans and the top three qualifiers in the Sheetz Limited Sportsman division will go head to head in a Domino's Pizza eating contest. The three fans and the top three qualifiers will compete to see who can eat an entire Domino's Pizza and down an ice cold Pepsi the quickest. The fan that finishes their pizza and Pepsi first will win a 2004 Season Pass to Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway and the driver who finishes first will win two Hoosier racing tires.

Fans can bring out the whole family for a fun-filled weekend of racing and camping at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway for the remainder of the 2003 season. Fans who purchase two tickets to any event at the speedway can camp out for the entire weekend, Friday through Sunday at no charge. Additional Speedway amenities and activities include a pool, arcade, a pond for fishing, grassy meadows, and paved roadways for jogging and biking.

A "Free Flea Market" will also be a part of the festivities at South Boston on July 26th. Free 10 X 10 spaces are still available for vendors and fans that would like to sell their goodies. More information can be secured by contacting the speedway at 434-572-4947 or visit us on the web at www.southbostonspeedway.com to see a schedule of available dates or to reserve their spot.

In 2003, Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway celebrates 46 years of racing excitement and affordable family entertainment.
