(South Boston, VA) With the NASCAR Winston Cup Series leaving open a Sunday afternoon, Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway took advantage of a gorgeous afternoon for some grassroots, short track racing. A full 28-car field of Coors Light Late Models nestled into position for a 150-lap feature with point leader Philip Morris (#01 Ruckersville, VA) on the RACERAP.com by only .001 seconds over visiting Deac McCaskill (#08 Raleigh, NC). Morris took advantage over a side-by side battle with McCaskill, before seven drivers piled into a backpack, backstretch-blocking melee on lap three.

After track cleaning efforts, Morris resumed his post and marched out front until David Triplett (#00) lost the handle in two on lap 10. Morris continued on from the restart, while Drew Herring (#3) posted a black flag for passing under Nick Woodward (#21 High Point, NC) before the line. Stacked up for second, four cars back, McCaskill led Jamey Caudill (#50), Woodward, and Jimmy Mullins (#75 Collinsville, VA) for runner-up by lap 40.

Chad Watkins (#91) smoked up the track in turn two, collecting Earnest Winslow (#68 Scotland Neck, NC) for another yellow flag period. Timothy Peters (#77 Providence, NC) powered outside to eclipse Woody Howard (#30 Chesapeake, VA) and Dean Ward (#2 Winston-Salem, NC) on the restart. Mullins was next on Peters' list, to break the Top 5 by lap 60. Nick Woodward looked for second under McCaskill on lap 67, while Peters sized up Caudill for fourth on lap 70.

Caution for debris shortened Morris' lead as Woodward, Caudill, and Peters lay in wait for the chance with 65 laps remaining. Caudill moved up out the groove and slowed with mechanical problems giving Peters fourth on lap 90. Frank Deiny Jr. (#4 Mechanicsville, VA) made his way past Mullins to take sixth by lap 100, using his track championship experience for the Team Bailey's.

Woody Howard assumed third over McCaskill, as Woodward attempted to track down Morris by lap 115. Laps counted down as Woodward inched closer to Morris, when McCaskill spun coming out of four. With 18 laps remaining, Woodward got the break he needed and Deiny made it into the Top 5. Morris let Woodward know his strength on the restart, walking away leaving Peters to contend with Woodward for second. Morris remained strong and Woodward held the line, giving Peters third. Howard, Deiny, Wayne Ramsey (#51), Mullins, Ryan Rhodes (#83), Jason Dickerson (#19), Ward, and McCaskill all finished on the lead lap behind Morris' third win in a row.

Adam Barker (#10 Hurt, VA) led the early charge in Sheetz Limited Sportsman action, with series point leader Jonathan Cash (#07 Oxford, NC) close behind in the opening. Jonathan Bailey (#89 Keysville, VA) showed his muscle in position swapping with Wayne Roach (#71 Chatham, VA) for third, as Cash managed to capitalize on Barker's bobble by halfway. Cash led to the final lap, while Barker fell to Bailey's charge. Roach and Tommy Peregoy (#2 Red Oak, VA), in their own battle, touched sending Peregoy spinning in turn three of the last lap, bringing out the caution and a final showdown. Peregoy looped it again, when the white flag waved, sending Cash for another battle with Bailey for the win. As Cash pulled out of four, Bailey looked to the outside. Cash put the hammer down and pulled Bailey by a car length at the line , then held off Bailey for the final circuit and his seventh win. Barker finished third, with Chuck Lawson bringing home fourth, followed by Roach in fifth.

Chuck Watkins (#99 North Carolina) led the Grand Home Furnishings Pure Stock 30 lap, caution-free event from start to finish, followed closely by Donald Glass (#18 Danville, VA), Tommy Wooldridge (#20 Forest, VA), and Lee Anderson (#01 Gladys, VA). Following post-race inspections, Chuck Watkins was disqualified and the win passed on to Donald Glass.
