This is the first Southwest Series race on the superspeedway since 1998 and the first 100-mile Southwest race ever on the superspeedway.
Among the notable competitors in the last Southwest Series race on the superspeedway were NASCAR rookie competitors Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch. Harvick finishes third in that race. Matt Kenseth had a fifth-place finish in 1997.
This is the second visit by the Southwest Series to LVMS this year. Craig Raudman won on the 3/8-mile Bullring in May.
LVMS NASCAR Weekly Racing Series champion Jason Allen will make his Southwest Series debut in the Nevada 100. Las Vegas' Steve Rzesnowiecky also will compete.
