SCOTT LYNCH SCORES THE NUMBER ONE SPOT

Bakersfield, Calif...Showing the skill and finesse that earned him the 2003 NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series Championship, Burley, Idaho native Scott Lynch expertly drove his 08 Mr. Gas Dodge to victory at the Lucas Oil 150, Saturday, April 9 at Mesa Marin Raceway.

"I love it when things work," said an obviously jubilant Lynch. "We came in here looking for our first win of the season and obviously luck was on our side. I couldn't be more pleased. We gained six spots in the points battle and now sit in fourth, just 41 points out of the lead."

Posting a qualifying time of 19.386 seconds put Lynch on the Grid in second and when the Green Flag waved he powered off in typical style. "I knew our Mr. Gas Dodge and our Kroyer Racing Engine were both strong," he said. "But I had no intention of using everything all up in the early stages of the game. You definitely can't win if you aren't there at the end."

Settling into a steady pace, Lynch continued to navigate the Mesa Marin track. "Our strategy was to run smooth and conserve our tires as much as possible," explains Lynch. "I ran in the top three for a while and then dropped back a few places keeping leaders in sight at all times. When a Yellow flew on Lap 97 the guys in front of me pitted, but June Bug my crew chief told me to stay out with the leaders. Our Dodge was getting pretty loose, so when another Yellow came out of Lap 126, I dove into the pits and took on two right side tires. I figured with new tires, I had a chance to make it to the front. The crew did a great stop and I got right back out, ready to go for it."

With just twenty laps remaining, Lynch immediately began to move up and it wasn't long before he made his way into second. Battling side-by-side and back and forth with leader David Gilliland, Lynch muscled his way to the inside on the White Flag Lap and Gilliland slid up the banking, holding on to the lead, Lynch took the Checkered by a margin of victory of 1.050 seconds and earned his 7th career win in the West Series.
