McKean and Wide World of Maps team for winter heat

JEROME, Idaho (January 20, 2004) Eddy McKean, the 2002 Southwest Series champion, has his sights set squarely on another championship trophy in 2004. Tallying one victory and three runner-up finishes in the last five races at Phoenix Int'l Raceway, McKean carries the hot hand as the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series opens its 19th season of competition this Sunday afternoon with the running of the Winter Heat "100".

McKean will again welcome Wide World of Maps of Phoenix, Ariz. on board as associate sponsor for this weekend's race. The partnership paid immediate dividends last season as McKean scored two victories in the final three events. "I enjoy running in the Southwest Series," McKean said. "Having Bob (Molner) and his Wide World of Maps company on the car is an important step in our championship hunt. Bob has been around the series for a long time and has put his name on several top cars over the years."

Molner has been one of the most recognizable figures in the garage area for the past decade and McKean is thrilled to continue the association. "Bob obviously sees potential in our race team," McKean said. "It was great to deliver a win to Bob last October and I look forward to seeing him in victory lane this weekend."

McKean also welcomes back to his team for 2004, several familiar names in the Southwest Series garage area. Freightrain Peters Racing Engines, Naake Motorsports, and Victory Circle Chassis. "Without series sponsors and team support, it would be difficult to find success in a traveling series," McKean said. "Brad (Peters) is at every race and ensures our engines are top notch. Mike Naake does an incredible job setting up the shocks for each event, and with victory in its name, Victory Circle Chassis is the best out there. Without all their involvement we would not be able to compete."

McKean enters his fourth fulltime season on the Southwest Series where he has tallied three wins, 16 top five and 24 top ten finishes in 47 career starts. McKean has also earned over $173,216 moving him into the top ten on the all-time money list in just three short years on the series.
