DUNCAN SCORES 3RD WIN OF 2005 WITH ROSEBURG VICTORY IN NASCAR GRAND NATIONAL DIVISION, WEST SERIES

ROSEBURG, Ore. (Sept. 17, 2005) - Mike Duncan became the first three-time winner this season in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series with a victory in the NAPA 200 at Douglas County Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Duncan dominated the event, winning the Bud Pole Award and leading all but one lap around the flat half-mile paved oval.

Although championship points leader Scott Lynch finished second, Duncan was able to trim his lead in the standings to just 33 points with two races remaining.

"We've got a long way to go to catch that (No.) 08," Duncan said of Lynch. "I knew he would be right behind us when it was all over. Sure enough, there he was. We've got to keep digging. I've got to do the same thing everywhere we go, Texas is not going to be any different," Duncan said of the upcoming race at Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, Texas. "Hopefully, we can find the setup quick and do the same thing."

Duncan set the pace at Roseburg, winning the Bud Pole with a lap of 117.555 mph in the Lucas Oil/Ron's Rear Ends Chevrolet. Although he led nearly the entire race, Duncan encountered plenty of pressure while working his way through lapped traffic. And he could still recall last year's event in which he won the pole and led early, but lost the top spot after contact with another car left them both spinning.

"I knew those guys were right on me and were going to be pressuring me every time I caught one of those lapped cars," Duncan said of Lynch, Steve Portenga and David Gilliland, who each challenged him for the lead. "I didn't want to mess with them too much," Duncan said of the lapped cars. "I wanted to get by them as fast as I could."

Duncan crossed the finish line with a margin of victory of 2.125 seconds, at an average speed of 54.545 mph. The Bakersfield, Calif., driver netted $8,218 in prize money and posted awards.

Lynch of Burley, Idaho, finished second in the Mr. Gas Dodge - followed by Portenga of Sparks, Nev., in the NAPA/NAPA Belts & Hose Chevrolet. Gilliland of Riverside, Calif., was fourth in the RaceCarCeilingFans.com Chevrolet. Taking fifth was Tim Woods III of Chino Hills, Calif., in the Chino Hills Ford Ford. Rounding out the top 10 were Scott Gaylord, Andrew Myers, Brett Thompson, Tim Smith and Daryl Harr.

Lynch heads into the final two events of the season with a slim 33-point lead over Duncan - 1,689 to 1,656. Portenga is third in the standings with 1,573, followed by Gilliland with 1,518 and Mike David with 1,422. Completing the top 10 are Thompson with 1,375, Woods with 1,336, Gaylord with 1,301, Harr with 1,284 and Andrew Lewis with 1,281.

Lewis continues to lead in his pursuit of this year's battle for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award. He leads with 83, followed by Myers with 76, Sarah Fisher with 70 and Smith with 54.

The next event on the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series schedule is the ALLSTATE TEXAS THUNDER 200 presented by Main Street Homes & The Central Texas Chevy Dealers at Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, Texas on Oct. 1.
