NASCAR GRAND NATIONAL DIVISION, WEST SERIES POST-RACE NOTES -- MONROE NAPA 300 presented by Basalite, AUG. 4

* Ickler takes third win in four races -- Brian Ickler (No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet) is dominating the second half of the season in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series. His victory in the NAPA 300 presented by Basalite at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash., on Aug. 4, gave him three wins in four races. The 21-year-old from San Diego is the only driver to visit victory lane more than once this season in West Series races. His first career series win came in Roseburg, Ore., on June 30. He followed that up four days later with a victory in Irwindale, Calif., on July 4. Ickler, who was 11th in the championship standings after the first six races this year, has moved to fourth in the standings -- with three wins and two sixth-place finishes in the past five events.

* Duncan captures fourth Bud Pole Award -- Mike Duncan (No. 9 Lucas Oil/Ron's Rear End Chevrolet) registered his fourth Bud Pole Award of the season at Monroe, while setting a track record. Duncan lapped the .646-mile oval at 99.691 mph to surpass a mark of 99.589 mph that had stood since 1996. After setting the fast-mark in the first three races this season, Duncan had been shut out until reaching Washington. The Bakersfield, Calif., driver is seventh on the list of Career Bud Pole Winners in the West Series, with 20. Duncan went on to register his sixth consecutive podium finish at Monroe, with a second-place finish.

* Northwest drivers shine at Monroe -- Several drivers from Washington state turned in a strong performance at Monroe. In making his West Series debut, Travis Bennett (No. 09 Grape King/Bowman's Chevrolet) of Ellensburg drove to a fourth-place finish. Jeff Barkshire (No. 46 Centennial Batteries/SPE Dodge) of Auburn, who had six previous series starts in the past couple of years, led three times for 49 laps and finished seventh. Making his series debut in Barkshire's team car, Jason Frasier (No. 37 Dwayne-Lanes Dodge/BRI Dodge) of Snohomish started fifth and ran with the leaders -- before eventually finishing 14th after a lengthy pit stop for work to his car.

* Aero Exhaust Lap Leader -- In addition to winning the pole, Mike Duncan also won the Aero Exhaust Lap Leader Award at Monroe. The award goes to the eligible driver who leads the most laps in an event.

* POWERade Power Move -- Moses Smith (No. 18 Hasa Pool Products/White Flyer Chevrolet) charged from 16th to sixth at Monroe to win the POWERade Power Move of the Race Award. At each Grand National Division event, POWERade presents the award to the eligible driver who advances the most positions.

* Sunoco Rookie of the Race Award -- Moses Smith also won the Sunoco Rookie of the Race Award at Monroe, as the top finishing driver registered in the rookie program. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings reflect up to 10 of a driver's best finishes.

* Featherlite Most Improved -- With a fifth-place finish at Monroe, Justin Lofton (No. 66 Lofton Cattle/Cometic/Klotz/Eibach Ford) captured the Featherlite Most Improved Driver Award. His finish there followed a 19th-place finish in Utah. Featherlite presents the award at each event to the driver who improves the most finishing positions from the previous event.
