Monroe, Wash...Powering his Yerf-Dog/Orleans Racing Dodge to a 7th place finish in Round 5 of the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series at Evergreen Speedway, July 17th, moved Scott Lynch into fifth place in the point standings.
"It wasn't exactly what we wanted," said Lynch, "but it moved us up a spot in the points battle and that is the important thing. There are still eight more races to go, so we definitely have plenty of time to move into first. We just need a little luck."
Qualifying in the number 8 spot, Lynch moved off the Startline filled with his normal determination. "This is really a tough track," says the reigning West Champion. It is really slick, kind of like running on ice cubes. We did really well for the first 60 laps and then our Yerf-Dog Dodge got both tight in the middle and loose off. This is a track where setup is all-important and if you are off a fraction, it really plays havoc. The guys worked hard making adjustments, but the pattern of being good and then getting tight and loose kept repeating itself."
The Coors Light 200 marked the debut of an almost all new Orleans crew for Lynch. "The guys did a great job for their first time out," says Lynch. They have been practicing double time and it showed. My new crew Robert Strmiska or Junebug as we call him is great and I think he will be a big help in being able to win this year's championship. All in all, though it didn't go as well as we would have liked, I have no complaints about Monroe. The next race up is Irwindale and our whole team tends to excel there. We are all going to be looking for our first win of the season."
