Irwindale, Calif. - - (Oct 11, 2000) K& N Engineering, Inc., the acknowledged leaders in the design and manufacture of both racing and street high performance automotive products, today signed-on as the presenting sponsor of Saturday night's "Open Wheel Extravaganza" on October 14 at Irwindale Speedway.

Featuring the only West Coast pavement appearance of the mighty USAC Silver Crown cars, the special night will also highlight the final race in the torrid Western States 2000 season USAC Sprint Car Series, as well as a high-stakes race for the track's own feisty NASCAR Grand American Modifieds. Drivers from across the country will be competing at Irwindale for a national title in the audacious Silver Crown cars with the Western Sprint Car crown still up for grabs among the three leading drivers.

"We are very proud to have our company name on this unique event at Irwindale Speedway," said Nate Shelton, K&N's President and CEO. "Our products are used with great success by winners in all three of the racing divisions 'on stage' at Irwindale this weekend … We wish all the competitors the very best of luck. It's very exciting for K&N to be associated with these great races at a great racing venue like Irwindale."

"This is a terrific opportunity for us to work with a company that everyone views as the best in the business," said Pat Patterson, Irwindale's VP of Marketing. "We welcome K&N onboard here at the Speedway and sincerely hope that this will be just the beginning of a great relationship with this outstanding outfit."

K&N designs and manufactures a wide variety of high tech air filter products, fuel injection performance upgrade kits, special application airboxes, and exhaust systems for street machines and for racing vehicles from Karts to F1 Cars. Located in Riverside, California; the high-performance automotive aftermarket parts company has a well-designed website (www.knfilters.com) which offers excellent technical information on their many products as well as national dealer information.

The October 14 Coors Light Silver Bullet race will be televised in prime time on ESPN2 on Sunday October 22 from 7 to 9 PM (West Coast time).
