HOLMES SOLVES MYSTERY OF MADERA WITH LATE-RACE PASS
MADERA, Calif. (April 27, 2009) -- Like a great detective solving a puzzle, Eric Holmes is searching for his second straight NASCAR Camping World Series West championship.
Holmes grabbed an important piece of championship information when he took the lead with eleven laps remaining and won the NAPA Auto Parts/Toyota 150 at Madera Speedway. It was Holmes' second win in four races this season.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Camping World Series West, as well as the Camping World Series East. The bias-ply tires Goodyear supplies for the Camping World Series program are the same as those used by the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
Holmes, the defending West series champion, led three times for a total of 48 laps. He averaged 53.449 mph over the 150-lap distance. There were seven lead changes during the chase around Madera's 1/3-mile oval. There were 20 cars in the starting field.
David Mayhew finished second, half a second behind the winner. Mike David finished third, followed by Paulie Harraka and Greg Pursley. Jason Bowles won the Coors Light Pole Award with a lap averaging 76.883 mph.
