Scott Lynch Looking for his Second Win
Las Vegas...With his first win of the season (Roseburg, Or.) under his belt, Scott Lynch is looking to put his No. 08 Yerf-Dog/Orleans Dodge back in Victory Lane at the Subway 150, Round 10 of the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, October 3.
"We took the pole and won here last year," says Lynch, who also set a new track record with a race time of 114.262 mph. "Now we want to do it again. I like racing here. It definitely suits my style of driving and our Yerf-Dog/Orleans Dodge combined with our Kroyer Racing power is just the right ticket. In fact this has always been a good track for us with the exception of this year's season opener where a water leak put us out of contention.
In his second year of NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series Racing, Lynch, the defending champion, has more than proven his skill behind the wheel. "We've had a up and down season this year," continues Lynch. "Some of our guys, including my crew chief moved up to truck and we pretty much started with a whole new team just about five races ago. It has taken awhile to get the chemistry going, but its there now and the rest of the season should be good."
Running 150 Laps on the "Jewel of the Desert" track, Lynch is definitely up for the competition. "There are some really good drivers in this year's chase," says the Burley, Idaho native. "You need to be on your toes and totally focused every second of every event and that's definitely our game plan for this one. Qualifying is always important and the better your starting position, the better chance you have of taking the lead."
Currently ranked in 6th, Lynch is determined to move up. "This is an important race for us," he says. "Not only do we want to move up, but this is another race we want to win for Yerf-Dog," says Lynch. This is their headquarters and so it is an important round. They are Number 1 in their field and now we want to make them Number One at Phoenix International Raceway.
Qualifying for the Subway 150 takes place on Saturday, October 2 at 2:00 PM (PT) and race action gets underway at 3:00 PM (PT).
