KRISTIN BUMBERA HEADS TO PHOENIX FOR FIRST APPEARANCE IN THE NASCAR CAMPING WORLD WEST SERIES THIS SEASON
Houston, TX, April 13, 2009 - Fresh off of her first start in the NASCAR Camping World East Series at Greenville-Pickens last Saturday, Kristin Bumbera will head out west to compete against some familiar faces. Last season driving for Next Generation Racing she had two good appearances in the west series finishing 11th at Kyle, TX and 14th in Irwindale, CA. She's hoping for another good finish this weekend in the Jimmie Johnson Foundation 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. "I'm excited to race out west again." said Bumbera. "We've been working hard during the off season on some new things and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all works."
Bumbera will compete part time in 2009 in the NCWS West for Next Generation Racing driving the Bumbera's Performance Associates #00 Chevrolet. She's also making a run for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Title in the NCWS East driving the #94 Wide Open Performance Energy Drink Dodge for Hamilton Racing. This is her second year to be chosen to drive in NASCAR's Drive for Diversity Program. The 21-year-old was honored in Daytona in February as last year's "Participant of the Year" for her outstanding achievements on the track as well as her outreach efforts away from the track. Bumbera goes into this race with 16 wins, 52 top 5's and 92 top 10's.
Owner of Next Generation Racing, Inc., and Kristin's mother, Cheri Bumbera, says, "Our team is looking forward to Phoenix, we should have a good racecar. This is the only west series race we have on the schedule right now. It's hard to believe that the only female driver in the NASCAR Camping World Series is still looking for marketing partners. Our company is "Female Owned - Female Driven" so our ideal marketing partner would be a company who sees the value in becoming involved with a NASCAR team and has a product that needs a young female - who can drive - to promote it. Hopefully we'll put something together for some more races this season."
