Las Vegas...Looking to celebrate Labor Day in top fashion, Scott Lynch heads for Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley City, Utah and the running of the NAPA Auto Parts 200, Round 8 of the 13-race NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series.
"This is going to be an important round for us," says Lynch, who took top honors at this event last season. "Lately, we have been plagued by a string of bad luck and we are looking to this race to turn get the proverbial 'monkey' off our back. It's time to put our Yerf-Dog/Orleans Dodge out in front."
The reigning West Champion, Lynch currently sits in 6th in the point standings. "There are six rounds left," says Lynch. "And we definitely need to make everyone count. We tested at Rocky Mountain Speedways recently and our Yerf-Dog/Orleans Dodge was right on. Our whole team is highly motivated and I think we have a great chance of doing well. Rocky Mountain Speedways is a cool, fast track. It is wide enough to allow good side-by-side racing which means you can pass and that is all-important when you want to mount a charge to the front. Our plan is the same as always - to qualify well and move to the front as quickly as possible."
While taking the Checkered Flag is always Lynch's main thrust, he is doubly determined to be the first across the Finish Line at Rocky Mountain Speedways. "While naturally I always want to win," he explains, "this event is extremely important to me for a number of reasons. First of all Utah is my sponsor's home state and I know that a win here means a lot to them. Next it is close to my home state of Idaho and last, but not least, it is where I went to college and I have tons of friends who come out to cheer me on. All-in-all, there will be a huge cheering section and that always makes me and everyone on the Orleans team determined to do well.
Boasting sponsorship from Yerf-Dog, the largest manufacturer of karts in the United States, engines by Kroyer Racing Engines and the expertise of the Orleans Racing crew, Lynch definitely has all the needed ingredients. "It doesn't get any better than this," says Lynch. "Everyone on this team is all well-versed in what it takes to win. Being successful is truly a team effort and that is what we have - a team that knows how to work together, all sharing the same goal. I consider myself lucky and while no-one can ever predict the outcome of any race, the one thing that can be predicted is that we will all be doing our very best to take the win at Rocky Mountain Speedways this weekend.
